Neck Exercises to Make Your Neck Bigger

In my walk in life, I have never met a woman who used neck exercises to make her neck bigger. There might be a few somewhere, especially if females compete in bodybuilding, but for the most part, it is a guy thing.

The neck muscles are a highly important muscle group as they hold up your head, help your posture, and help support the head. As we age, our muscles become less conditioned if we are not exercising on a regular basis. That is why, no matter how old you are, exercise has to be a consistent priority. Sometimes the way you are built, your neck needs to have some bulk or you may look a little out of proportion. Or you just feel you look better with a bigger neck. It is your call!

First, and most important, check with your health care provider before you start your neck building exercises. It makes no sense to add bulk to your neck unless the exercises are ones that will work and not do damage. We will cover a few exercises here to get you started.

Start with “The Bridge” – dress comfortably of course and lie down on your stomach while you place our body in a tripod with the end result having your weight supported by your legs, back and neck. (Don’t worry; you won’t look like a pretzel)! Roll forward, left, right and back and then cover the diagonal directions using your neck. If you have to balance, use your hands. It may sound like a challenge but this callisthenic will work all your neck muscle groups.

While you are on the floor put your hips are high in the air forming a bridge, forming the top of the arch your tripod. Supported on your head and your legs with your hands. From here, roll forward; back, to the left, to the right, and to the diagonal directions, all on your neck. Eventually you will be able to touch your nose to the floor and have excellent neck flexibility!

Move to the Shoulder/Military Press – which you have seen many times. We have all seen movies where the Sgt. Says “Give me 50” and the soldiers gets on the ground immediately. This is a great shoulder and upper back/check exercise but the tension built up from the exercise will radiate into your neck. Remember it is that great group of neck muscles that gives aid to the shoulders to lift your weight straight upward.

Neck Crunches – you are all set for this one already being on the floor. Lay on your back and tighten/contract the frontal neck muscles while you life your head up off the ground and into the air. Focus your eyes on the ceiling. Move on to the next crunch by lifting your frontal neck muscles while you lift your head off the ground and toward your legs. This may feel like an abdominal crunch, as your body will be getting benefit from that area.

Exercises to make your neck bigger are accomplished by repetitive exercise, focus, and again, check with your doctor before you start any new program.
